A business case sets out why an investment should be considered. It compares options, expected costs and benefits, risks and assumptions. Financial measures such as NPV, payback and sensitivity analysis help decision-makers assess the proposal alongside strategic and operational factors.
What it means for a business
Before replacing an ERP, a business can compare keeping the current system, upgrading it and adopting a new platform. The case should include migration, training and operating costs, and show how the conclusion changes if expected benefits arrive later than planned.
