Scheduling and orchestration for data workflows

Apache Airflow is an open-source platform for defining, scheduling and monitoring workflows as code. A workflow is represented as a directed acyclic graph, or DAG, whose tasks can run data extraction, transformation and other jobs with defined dependencies and retry rules.

What it means for a business

A data team can use Airflow to coordinate a nightly workflow that extracts sales data, runs transformations and updates a warehouse. Task status and configured alerts help the team investigate failures before reports are used.
